Cigna is expanding in Colorado, offering for the first time Medicare Advantage (MA) plans in the Denver and Boulder areas. These plans will first be available to Medicare eligible customers during Medicare’s Annual Election Period (AEP), which begins Oct. 15 and continues through Dec. 7, for plans that take effect Jan. 1, 2020.
“In Colorado, Cigna's Medicare Advantage health benefits offer zero dollar premiums coupled with attractive benefits not available through original Medicare,” said Lindy Hinman, Market President, Colorado Medicare Advantage. “Our robust benefits are reinforced by an intense focus on working closely with doctors and other health care professionals to deliver highly personalized care.”
Cigna-HealthSpring Preferred HMO and Cigna-HealthSpring True Choice PPO will be available in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties.
“For many years, Cigna has offered health benefits plans to Colorado residents through area employers and through the individual marketplace, and we are pleased to now offer our Medicare Advantage solutions here as well to connect new customers with providers and services that promote their overall health and wellness, both body and mind,” said John Roble, market president, Cigna Mountain States.
For example, Cigna Medicare offers an acupuncture allowance in its Denver MA PPO and MA HMO plans, covering up to $300 annually toward the cost of these services when provided by a licensed practitioner. This is the first time Cigna has offered this alternative treatment in any of its Medicare plans.
Some other unique benefits in Cigna Medicare’s MA PPO include up to a $300 annual credit for customers to use toward their Medicare Part B premium and a $1,000 allowance to be used at any licensed dentist for preventive and comprehensive non-cosmetic services.
Other benefits in both the Medicare Advantage PPO and HMO plans include the following in both cities:
