Entravision to Broadcast California's 36th District U.S. Congressional Debate on its TV Stations Serving Palm Springs

WHAT:

Entravision Communications Corporation (NYSE: EVC), a diversified global media and advertising technology company serving Latino consumers, will broadcast the only live U.S. Congressional debate between Democrat incumbent Raul Ruiz  and Republican opponent Kimberlin Brown-Pelzer on Tuesday, October 16th at 6pm PT on its Univision (KVER-LD- Channel 4) and NBC (KMIR Channel 36) television affiliates serving Palm Springs, CA. There will also be a live stream, interactive page, and live chat before, during and after the debate, which will be available on Desert Sun and Noticias Ya.




The debate will be moderated by veteran political journalist, Hank Plante. Mr. Plante began his journalism career in Washington D.C. at the Sentinel Newspapers and for three decades has covered California for TV stations in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs. He is an established reporter and winner of the George Foster Peabody Award along with multiple Emmys (local and national). Mr. Plante retired in 2010, but currently writes columns for newspapers in California with a main focus on politics and LGBT issues. Along with his professional accolades, in 2014 Plante became a member of the Editorial Board of Gannett's Desert Sun newspaper located in Palm Springs.




The debate will also include previously taped questions submitted by anchors Jorge Ramos, Sergio Urquidi, and Diana Perez.  Jorge Ramos, a Mexican-born American journalist and author, is regarded as the best-known Spanish-language news anchor in the United States. He currently anchors Noticiero Univision, the Sunday-morning political news program Al Punto, and the Fusion TV English program America with Jorge Ramos. Sergio Urquidi is Univision San Diego's 6pm news anchor with accomplishments including an Emmy Award and Golden Mike Award. Before moving to San Diego in 2017, he was lead anchor for Univision Arizona Daily Newscast. Diane Perez was a co-host of ABC News' World News Now and America This Morning before retiring in 2014.
