INDIANAPOLIS --

Allison Transmission Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ALSN), the largest global provider of commercial duty fully automatic transmissions, announced today, along with GMC, the availability of a 10-speed, fully automatic transmission in the new Sierra heavy-duty truck. Equipped with the Allison branded 10-speed transmission, the 2020 Sierra will debut in February 2019.

“Trailering is the most important consideration for Sierra Heavy Duty customers and the new features and technologies, including the Allison fully automatic transmission, make it easier than ever to hitch a trailer and tow it confidently,” said Jaclyn McQuaid, GMC Vehicle Chief Engineer, Heavy Duty Trucks. “The all-new 10-speed transmission with closer gear spacing allows the engine to operate in an optimal range at all times with varying load and terrain conditions.”

The Allison branded automatic transmission, manufactured by General Motors, combines enhanced performance and fuel economy, greater operational flexibility, and improved driver comfort and control, with an industry-leading reputation for uptime and reliability. Designed for high-performance and low-maintenance, the Allison 10-speed coupled with GMC’s Duramax diesel engines provide the superior power delivery and productivity customers demand.
