Illinois Casualty Company wins Oracle Excellence Award

PR Newswire

ROCK ISLAND, Ill., Nov. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Illinois Casualty Company (ICC), a subsidiary of ICC Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: ICCH), has been awarded Oracle's Excellence Award for innovation for the development of its cloud-service based mobile app, ICC2Go, available for iOS and Android. ICC Chief Information Officer Norm Schmeichel and developers Alex Legatzke and Juan Hernandez accepted the award in San Francisco at the Oracle OpenWorld conference on Monday, October 22.

According to Oracle, this award honors customers "who are using Oracle Cloud Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to accelerate innovation and drive business transformation by increasing agility, lowering costs and reducing IT complexity." Winners are selected based on the uniqueness of their business case, business benefits, level of impact relative to the size of the organization, complexity and magnitude of the implementation, and the originality of the architecture.

Using Oracle's cloud-based platform, the Company was able to design, develop, and implement the application in record time. By using Oracle's programming and security strength, ICC was able to focus its development efforts on functionality and ease of use, rather than cost-prohibitive security concerns.

Mr. Schmeichel said, "We were able to architect a solution with the help of Oracle that would provide us a fast, secure platform to accomplish our goals. This effectively allowed us to focus on development rather than all of the security concerns of serving up data to the phone apps as well as concerns of the data at rest on the phones themselves."

ICC's award-winning mobile application allows internal and external users to access and submit information directly from their smartphone or tablet. Functions include payment, claims, and trouble ticket submission, as well as contact capabilities and a customer locater.

"By utilizing Oracle's platform, we were able to complete the entire project in less than two months and at about one-third of the cost of using traditional development methods. As a small company, we value this avenue of development, without which this project wouldn't have been possible," said Arron Sutherland, ICC's President & CEO.  "What's more, we estimate additional future savings of over $100,000 in continuing development, support, and security-related costs associated with ICC2Go."
