Itronics Discovers Surface 0.4 Ounce per ton Gold and Surface 5 Percent Copper at its Nevada Auric Fulstone Gold Silver Zinc Copper Project

RENO, Nev., Oct. 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Itronics Inc. (OTC:ITRO), a diversified producer of Greentech GOLD’n GRO zinc fertilizers and silver products and a green “Zero Waste” technology development Company, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary, Whitney Whitney, Inc., has measured surface 0.4 ounce per ton gold and 5 percent copper at the Auric Gold Minerals, Inc. Fulstone Gold Silver Zinc Copper exploration project, located in the Yerington Mining District in Nevada.   Previous surface sampling has shown the presence of anomalous silver, zinc, copper, and lead.

In the first quarter of 2018 the Company’s subsidiary, Whitney Whitney, Inc., completed a new confidential project report for the Auric Fulstone Project.  The updated report identifies five target areas and recommends a 10-hole investigative drill program consisting of two drill holes for each target area.

In early September surface grab samples were taken at two locations within the project area.  One set of samples was taken at a location that was previously identified as being within a gold anomaly and that was suggested as a drill hole location in the 2018 updated report.  Three samples were taken on an east-west line about 200 feet apart.  The first sample was anomalous for gold, zinc, and copper.  The second sample contained 0.4 ounce per ton gold and anomalous copper and zinc.  The third sample contained 0.2 percent zinc, 0.04 percent copper and anomalous silver.   All three samples contained anomalous molybdenum.

These sample results justify putting in a sample grid later this fall designed to determine the extent of the gold mineralization at this location.  “Discovery of high-grade surface gold at this location validates the quality of the interpretative work done by our geologic team,” said Dr. John Whitney, Itronics President.  “We are looking forward to putting in a sample grid at this location and completing the sampling- in the near future”.

The second set of samples were taken at a newly identified mine shaft and prospect pit located about 2,000 feet north of our northern most zinc anomaly.  One of the samples taken contained 5 percent copper accompanied by anomalous gold, silver, and zinc.  A second sample contained 0.3 percent copper, 0.36 ounce per ton silver, and anomalous gold and zinc.  The third sample contained anomalous gold, silver, copper, and zinc.  All three samples contained anomalous molybdenum.

These sample results extend the mineralized zone by about 2000 feet, making the total strike length of the zone about 7,000 feet.  The mineralization occurs adjacent to and along a major fault that has been named the “Fulstone Fault”.  “Finding this new area of mineralization is exciting,” said Dr. Whitney.  “It fits within the geologic model we have developed for the Fulstone Project area and supports our concept that significant concentrations of silver, zinc, gold, and copper may be identified by drilling at the identified locations.”

Because of the favorable geology, geochemistry, and geophysics at the sample locations and along the Fulstone Fault between the two sample locations, the Company believes there is potential for discovery of large tonnages of high-grade silver, gold, zinc, and copper mineralization.  Additional detailed sampling, geological mapping, and geophysics studies need to be completed to further delineate these anomalous areas and to provide additional information to support drilling.  The Company plans to do further mapping and sampling in these anomalous areas.

The Yerington Mining District hosts several multi-hundred-million-ton copper deposits and is favorable for discovery of additional large deposits.  The Fulstone Project is one of the more prospective areas in the district that has not yet been drilled.
