Principal Financial Group, Inc. (PFG) is a provider of retirement services, insurance solutions and asset management. The Company offers businesses, individuals and institutional clients a range of financial products and services, including retirement, asset management and insurance through its family of financial services companies. As of December 31, 2013, the Company had approximately 19.4 million customers. PFG primarily focuses on small and medium-sized businesses providing an array of retirement and employee benefit solutions to meet the needs of the business, the business owner and their employees. The Company operates in four segments: retirement and investor services, principal global investors, principal international, and United States insurance solutions. PFG's corporate segment consists of the assets and activities that have not been allocated to any other segment.
