RESTON, Va. --

Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE:SAIC) today announced that it has been named as a 2019 Industry Innovation Winner by the Government Innovation Awards, recognizing SAIC’s Internet of Battlefield Things (IoBT) solution. The awards, presented by Washington Technology, honor best examples of discovery and innovation in government IT.

“We are honored to be named a 2019 Industry Innovation winner,” said Josh Jackson, executive vice president and general manager for SAIC’s Solutions and Technology Group. “This award recognizes SAIC’s role as a leading technology integrator that provides state-of-the-art solutions to some of the most complex challenges our customers face. SAIC’s IoBT solution is one of many ways in which we are solving tough problems through innovative uses of technology, our ecosystem of commercial partners, and rapid design through SAIC’s Innovation Factory.”

SAIC created the IoBT solution to address a capability gap for near-real-time communications, sensing and collaboration for U.S. warfighters. The IoBT solution ensures that warfighters have real-time and multi-domain situational awareness and communication capabilities, including the ability to function in a disconnected mode using cloud technology. SAIC is enabling more mission functionality at the tactical edge.

“Our IoBT solution allows warfighters to collaborate near-real time in any operational environment,” said Jim Scanlon, executive vice president and general manager of SAIC’s Defense Systems customer group. “Seamless communication is essential in helping warfighters achieve their mission of saving lives on the frontlines. We are proud to have this important technology recognized.”

The IoBT solution is housed on ground vehicles currently in use by the Department of Defense and meets the requirements of the military. The vehicle is customizable and includes features such as a data center, suite of sensors, hardened military communications, and advanced analytics capabilities that can function in any operational environment.
