Televisión Dominicana Renews Rights to Air the Dominican Professional Baseball Winter League (LIDOM)

MIAMI, Aug. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hemisphere Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: HMTV) ("Hemisphere" or the "Company"), the only publicly traded pure-play U.S. media company targeting the high growth U.S. Hispanic and Latin American markets with leading broadcast and cable television and digital content platforms, today announced Televisión Dominicana, the official television network for the U.S. Dominican community, has reached a multi-year agreement with the Dominican Professional Baseball Winter League (LIDOM, for its Spanish acronym) to air games on the network. Beginning in October, viewers will be able to enjoy up to seven games per week. The 2018-2019 regular season will run through December, with playoffs beginning in January.

Televisión Dominicana has exclusive U.S. television rights to the home games of Las Estrellas Orientales, Los Gigantes del Cibao, Los Leones del Escogido, and Los Toros del Este, which will include the regular season and playoff games.

The Dominican Professional Baseball Winter League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world, and has been an incubator, as well as the offseason home, for top-tier MLB players such as six-time MLB Allstar Jose Bautista and current Seattle Mariners slugger Nelson Cruz, along with former legends David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Vladimir Guerrero and Sammy Sosa, who have also participated in the league.
