The system’s effectiveness was recently demonstrated
during a significant landslide in the Chilcotin region of Western
Canada. Installed at Hells Gate on the Fraser River, the Water-TraX
Flood Monitoring System successfully detected the landslide on August
1, identifying a sudden and substantial drop in water levels as the
Chilcotin River was completely blocked. The system continued to
monitor the situation, and on August 8, it recorded a dramatic water
surge, with the Fraser River rising 4.85 meters in just seven
hours—triggering hazardous flood conditions and sweeping debris
downstream.
